Labour founded the NHS, and now we’re making it fit for the future – right here in Hertsmere and across the country.
HOW IT STARTED…
When Labour took office, we inherited a broken NHS:
👎 NHS satisfaction had hit an all-time low
🏥 A&E queues had more than doubled since 2009
🕰️ 1 in 10 patients were waiting 12 hours or more in A&E
😡 People were scrambling at 8am just to get a GP appointment
HOW IT’S GOING…
Labour’s Plan for Change is starting to put things right:
✅ NHS waiting lists are down by nearly 250,000
📅 4.2 million extra appointments delivered
👩⚕️ 1,900 new GPs recruited since October
🧠 Over 6,700 extra mental health workers now in place
💷 And a record £29 billion investment in the NHS secured
BUT THIS IS JUST THE START…
Today, Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Health Secretary Wes Streeting have launched Labour’s 10-Year Health Plan.
The plan will shift more care out of hospitals and into the community – making it easier for patients in Hertsmere to get the support they need.
We’re especially excited about the roll-out of Neighbourhood Health Centres – one-stop shops that will bring together healthcare, care and employment support in every community.
This is what delivering real change looks like.
