Potters Bar Labour councillor, Chris Myers, is one of four temporary councillors who will be stepping in to help keep South Mimms Parish Council running after the majority of its members resigned earlier this year.

As four of the parish council’s five seats were vacant following a mass walk out, there has been no quorum to conduct parish business, allowing Hertsmere Borough Council to appoint people to fill vacancies until new councillors are elected.

The other Borough Councillors appointed were Conservatives Morris Bright MBE, Anthony Spencer and Natalie Susman. Bright is leader of the Council and the others both represent nearby Shenley ward. Bright will be seeking to retain his Potters Bar West seat in the County elections, which also includes South Mimms.

Only Cllr Yvonne Harverson remains on the parish council, however it is believed that she also intends to step down.

Elections to South Mimms Parish Council will take place in May, alongside County Council elections and any other by elections that have been delayed through Corvid-19..
