Labour councillors Chris Myers and Christian Gray have asked for urgent meetings with the police and Hertsmere Borough Council following the stabbing of a 14 year old boy in Potters Bar.

The boy, who was stabbed near Furzefield Leisure Centre, remains in a stable condition after being taken to Barnet General Hospital and later transferred.

Said Cllr Myers, “We have made urgent requests to meet with Cllr Pervez Choudhury, portfolio holder for community safety in Hertsmere, and Chief Inspector Clare Smith in relation to this serious violent assault.”

The attack, which took place in the ward where the two councillors were elected last month, is the second one in as many months.

Cllr Gray continued: “We have raised concerns about the CCTV provision at the Leisure Centre and residents are deeply troubled by the nature of these continuing crimes. We will work with the local authority and residents in any way we can to ensure the streets of Potters Bar are safe.”
