“Fantastic Response” to petition organised by Labour Councillors
Earlier today, the owner of Aycliffe Road Post Office was joined by Labour Councillors Michelle Vince & Jeremy Newmark as he presented a petition to Hertsmere Borough Council. The Petition, signed by 2629 local residents calls on the Council to reconsider its decision to impose rent increases of over 120% that will lead to the closure of the Post Office.
Cllr Newmark commented: “This fantastic response to our petition from local people shows that the Post Office isn’t just about sending parcels. It is a real community hub. We have already lost one local post office and others around Borehamwood have been significantly reduced in size. Aycliffe Road is in a Ward that suffers immensely from deprivation and economic exclusion. The Tory controlled Council now needs to listen to local people, think again and find a solution that enables this important local amenity to remain open.”
Hertsmere residents and those who work in the Borough can still sign the petition by clicking the button below, or visiting most of the shops in Leeming or Aycliffe Roads, Borehamwood in person.
