Richard Butler has been a Borough Councillor representing the Cowley Hill Ward for over ten years. He followed in the footsteps of his father Ernie who was also a much loved local Councillor. A former Mayor of Borehamwood & Elstree, Richard is also a Borehamwood Town Councillor. Richard stood for Parliament in 2015 and is a popular Borehamwood figure who grew up, lives and works locally. Richard wants to continue to work hard for people in Cowley Hill. He is vice chair of the Operations Review Committee. In 2021 Richard was elected to serve as a County Councillor for Borehamwood South and since then has been a proactive in his work on the Highways and Transport Cabinet Panel, and being the Labour Spokesperson for Highways, representing the views of residents on the issues facing the Roads of Borehamwood and Hertfordshire. On County Council he also serves as the Vice Chairman for Overview and Scrutiny where he keeps the Conservative Administration in check.
